There are exciting plans for a Local Centre close by the homes, which will include a local general store of some 3,000 square feet, a number of additional shop units and a Community Centre, all of which in terms of design, are presented along a ‘central’ High Street. In addition within two years a new, uniquely designed two-class entry Primary School is to be built close by the homes, taking children aged between 4 and 11 years old.
A place the play!
There is to be an extensive provision of 15.2 hectares of public open space within the destination. The one-time Wootton Brook is to be restored, which will create an active and valuable wildlife ‘corridor’ of value to many invertebrates, fish bats and birds. Special care provision is being made to support certain wildlife including barn owls and newts.
A range of other leisure and sporting amenities is planned, all of which are very much key elements of this truly special destination.
Planned facilities include an all-weather games pitch and tennis courts in addition to high quality, safe children’s play areas. A network of cycleway and footpaths will not only make walking and cycling in and around Coopers Edge enjoyable, safe and time efficient, but integrate the destination with the surrounding centres of Brockworth and Hucclecote and the employment opportunities on the neighbouring Business Park.
